Overview
WOW Adventures - May we begin by saying that OUR GOAL is to inspire others to explore the planet on which we live and to experience the wonders of this beautiful world. Africa is one of those special places and more specifically the region around Northern Tanzania.
To start with, Africa has some of the most fascinating and diverse wildlife on the face of the planet. The East African plains are home to large populations of "mega-mammals" and are one of the last places on earth to see such biodiversity. Northern Tanzania is also home to Mt Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing mountain on earth at over 19,340'. This mountain is a very impressive backdrop against the African savannah and hosts five different ecosystems.
This is the "adventure of a lifetime" for many and definitely one of the most progressive journeys WOW Adventures has developed to date. Divided into three unique segments, this fantastic 18-day experience is filled with the incredible African cultures, bio-diversity and landscapes…. promising to be one of the best 2 ˝ weeks" of your life!
Part One "The Ascent"
Mt. Kilimanjaro Summit Trek: We begin the adventure with the most challenging undertaking, a 7 day trek up Mt. Kilimanjaro. We have allowed one more day than usual to ensure our clients' summit success. This also enables us to take a route less traveled, the scenic Rongai route overlooking the Kenyan plains to the north. The trek to the summit is fully guided (including porters); all you will need to carry is a day pack. We will tent camp while trekking and our cook staff will prepare warm meals.

Part Two - "The Cycle of Life"
African Wildlife Safari: The next stage of this epic adventure is a 4 day wildlife safari in some of the most famous game reserves and national parks in Africa. After our chartered flight from Arusha to our furthest destination in the Serengeti, we will be transported by safari vehicles back to Arusha via Olduvai Gorge, Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara in search of the perfect photo of one of Africa's famed residents. As an added bonus, WOW Adventures has included a special sunrise hot air balloon safari over the Serengeti, sure to be one of the most memorable experiences of the adventure. Each night, we will be dining and sleeping at 4 star safari lodges.
Part Three - "A Time to Reflect"
Spice Island Retreat: The last segment of our trip will take us off the coast of Africa to the legendary "spice islands". We will spend a night and day on the island of Zanzibar in Stone Town before catching a boat to the pristine Chumbe Island six miles off the coast of Zanzibar. We will wind down and truly relax, as all activities are at your discretion and time schedule. Scuba or snorkel the world's first Coral Park! On the return, we will fly from Zanzibar to Dar-es-Salaam, where we will catch our flight back home.
The Great African Adventure is recommended for adequately fit/healthy individuals with a sense of fun and adventure and a willingness to accept all that comes with outdoor living. No climbing experience is necessary, as there is no technical climbing; only walking and scrambling. We do suggest a physical examination. The better shape you are in the more you will enjoy the adventure.
